This somewhat changes the danger level of meeting with someone, because a description can be given to a friend and even a screen shot of the person. This picture or screen shot can be give to authorities in the event that the person has less than honorable intentions. Video chat rooms also make it possible for those dating to have a more intimate relationship, in that the people can see the facial expressions of the person they are speaking. In addition, being able to hear the person, without having to be on the phone is a bonus as well.

Video chat rooms have also made it possible to avoid costly long distance bills if the couple are a long distance from one another, or if they are in another country. Video chat also makes it possible for the couple to see and hear each other in real time. The people talking to one another can do things together, such as play tic-tac-toe or other games available on the video chat programs.

Video chat rooms can also make it possible for family members to stay in touch, no matter how far away they are. Grandparents, spouses, brothers, sisters and the entire family can now all see and hear each other in real time. Having a family meeting about what is to be done about a sick family member in real time is now possible. The military members have greatly benefited from video chat rooms. The deployed military member can now see and hear spouses, children, parents and other family members in real time. These video chat rooms have made the separation more bearable for many military members and their family members.
